Privacy Policy

Life of Aash (www.lifeofaash.com) is a personal travel blog run by Aashish Chawla in Mumbai, India. This page explains what personal data the site collects, why, and what your rights are under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

What we collect

  • Comments: the name you enter, your comment, an optional email address (only to notify you of replies; it is never shown publicly) and your IP address (to stop spam and abuse).
  • Newsletter: your email address, if you subscribe.
  • Contact form: your name, email, optional phone number and your message.
  • Page views: an anonymous count of how many times each story is read. We do not build a profile of you.

Cookies and local storage

The site uses one small cookie to remember the language you chose (English, Hindi or Marathi), and your browser's local storage to remember your likes and the name you comment with. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not run analytics that follow you across sites.

Some stories embed videos or posts from YouTube, Instagram or Facebook. When you play or view them, those services may set their own cookies under their own privacy policies.

If you choose Hindi or Marathi and a story is not yet available in that language, it is translated in your browser by Google Translate. In that case Google receives the page text and may set a small cookie (googtrans) to remember the language. English readers never load it.

How we use your data

  • To show and moderate comments.
  • To send the newsletter you asked for (one email a month at most; every email has an unsubscribe link).
  • To reply to your messages.

We never sell or rent your data. It is stored on our own server and in our email provider's systems, and is shared with nobody else unless the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Comments stay for as long as the story is online. Newsletter emails are deleted when you unsubscribe. Contact messages are deleted after two years.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete any personal data we hold about you, or withdraw your consent (for example, to the newsletter) at any time. Write to info@lifeofaash.com and we will reply within 30 days.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
